"I'm sorry, but it wasn't my fault." He apologized, still keeping his gaze focused on the road.
"How is it not your fault, Jace?! How?!" | growled at him.
"Stop yelling at me, okay? Will you calm down?"
"Don't tellto calm down, Jace! You abandonedback there. That was not the plan, | was expecting to see
you as soon as | stepped outside of the sacred building of the Moon Goddess, | asked you to wait at the
packborders, but | mindlinked you to cover to the sacred building!"
He sighed. "I was waiting there."
"Then why did | not see you waiting there when | was done?" | angrily removed my shoes, throwing them to the
back seat without actually looking to see where both shoes had landed.
They were the least of my problem at this moment.
| was angry at myself. Why | had allowed what had happened, to happened?
"It would shock you to know that two of these wheels were deflated."
| sharply turned to face him. "What?!"
"Yes. | left the car to go make a few calls, I didn't notice anything when | returned. | went inside and tried to just
drive around the area, the car was moving rather weirdly. | was surprised and cdown to understand what
was wrong with the car." He paused and swerved, venturing onto another route.

But | was shocked by what Jace was telling me. How could two of the tyres have been deflated the stime?
"After checking the engine and seeing there was nothing wrong there. | stooped to check further and that was
when | saw the deflated tyres. | had to find a way to move it out of there and get the tyres changed. That took

"This is strange. This has never happened before, moreover, this is a new vehicle. Father just bought it, you told

"Hm." Worry and suspicions twisted my guts. Someone had tampered with the tyres, hoping I'd get into an
accident with it? Thankfully it wasn't the brakes.
Things made by humans were never to be trusted.
"How were you able to find me, then?" | asked.
"| saw you being chased by sguards from afar and decided to follow behind slowly so they do not figure out
anything, you said you wanted to keep your identity a secret. Seeing you in a brand new expensive looking
vehicle would surely not help your case, especially one that had the Alpha of Iron Claw pack written on the car's
plate."
"Thank goodness, and thank you for helpingprotect my secret."
He gave an acknowledging nod of his head. "Why were you running? Did the mate bond dissolving ceremony not
go well." He spareda glance before re- fixing his eyes on the road.
"It went well." | replied somberly, suddenly not in the mood to talk about it.
"Are you sure? You don't look like it did." He studied my face.
| sighed, looking out the window. | know | had nothing to do with Serenity's current
situation, but | still hoped that nothing would happen to her.
She bled so much, | hoped she did not die from losing all that blood.
What | could not understand was why she would go through that pain just to ruin
me.
She already had Alex to herself, was everything had happened today after the ceremony worth it?
Even before the ceremony, when she had tried to end my life by deflating those tyres. But could it really have
been her? We didn't even know each other.
She had no idea who | was. The vehicle had been parked in a way no one would have noticed it.
| had even told Jace to remove the car's plate and only replace it while all was done and we were well on our way
home. "Why did you not remove the plate as I'd instructed you to?"
"I did remove it, but | put it on my way back. Whats wrong? Do you think someone might have seen me?"
"Maybe, | don't know."
He shook his head in disagreement. "Personally, | don't think anyone saw me, the day of your mating ceremony
that | had arrived, | made sure to remain anonymous to all"
"But how cthe tyres were deflated? Two at once? Don't you think the deed was too intentional to be passed
up as mere coincidence, Jace?"
"Maybe. | think so too. But no one knows this is your vehicle? The plate was not even there when the tyres were
deflated, so who knew you enough to have done this?"
"Maybe someone had probably seenget down from this vehicle, Jace. And they had assumed it was mine."

"Serenity? The Manwhor's slut?"
"Ex-husband would be preferrable, Jace" | corrected him, casting him a look of disdain.
"Oh sorry. Ex-husband. But how come? It's not as if you're still planning on staying married to him. So what could
be her reasons? This seems too personal."
"I don't even know! She just hates me, | guess." | didn't know how to begin explaining the incident that just
happened.
"Does she have anything to do with why you're being chased by swerewolves looking like guards?" He
inquired, slowing down to study my expression.
| kept it as unreadable as possible, though | knew he could see through my facade.
| was still trying to get my head wrapped around what had just happened.
If not for my quick thinking, Alex would have hadthrown in jail for allegedly trying to attempt murder in his
pack for the second time.
What would my people say? What would my father think of me?
And if Serenity had stupidly given herself a slice so deep it had raptured a very vital organ and she'd died, that
was my end because there was no way to prove | had not done it.
Thank the Moon Goddess that no one in Moonforest pack knew my pack, they would have cfor me.
That stupid, mean Serenity would have madeend up in a dungeon or if she did not survive it, the guillotine.
| shivered in fear as | blinked back tears. It was tto forget the ugly memories of the Moonforest pack and
focus on my future, Iron Claw pack.
