Chapter 80

*Hrxjace’s POVHRORE

All my body was on fire, my bones were weary and | could barely make a sound, but | was still aware. | was still

aware and making my plans. One thing | had promised myself was | was not going to die.

My plan was set in motion and | knew | would find a way out, | had spotted a nail and I had intentionally let my

chair fall during my torture, before I could be raised back up, | had picked the nail and held it tightly.

"Such a pity, Jace. A pity you would have to die." The voice on the phone taunted still.

| was not going to believe whatever this voice was saying, no | would not. | was a Blackwood and that was it,

they were just trying to makefeel bad. To makedoubt my posterity but | would not.

| decided not to pay mind and began to use the nail to tug the rope free, due to the countless times of being

rough handled, the rope was a bit loose around my wrists, | just needed to loosen sof the knots and | would

be free.

Another blow landed on my face. They had stopped with the whip for now, and had used their hands on my face.

"Leave him be for now, we'll continue later. We have all the tin the world to kill him, no one knows where he

is."

| already knew who had monitored my movement out of the house. | had seen her walk standing beside my door

as | was coming out, she had appeared to be passing by and then, | was still too angry to have noticed she had

seemed flustered.

Looking as though she had been caught doing what she was not supposed to do, she had even stuttered a bit

greeting me. But | had brushed past her with anger still brewing within. She was the only one who could do this

and | knew how much Erika seem to like her.

Erika needed to know, she needed to know about this girl before things got worse. The call ended, but the phone

remained on the table, the guy did not bother to take it.

He ctoand slapped him across the cheek. "You stupid rich people who think nothing of others and

everything of yourself." He spat at me. He was way older than me.

"That's how they lift their arrogant noses in the air. See the kind of jeep he's driving, the lucky bastard." Another

eyedin envy and hate.

Still, 1 said nothing. As though he had forgotten the phone, he left. | was alone, | quickly went to work and put the

nail to a very good use, it was almost as though | would never be free when suddenly | felt my wrists breath in

relief. They were free.

| quickly took the phone, changed the ringtone to silent just in case and put it in my pocket. | sat there for two

more minutes just to be sure before standing up and tiptoeing to the entrance, my whole body cried in protest

over the brutality | had been made to go through.

| was tempted to groan in pain but | held it, | needed to endure the pain silence if | would successfully leave here

alive. | crept to the doorway, this place looked like an old storehouse made of metal that had rust and was

placed in the middle of nowhere.

It was as if the Moon Goddess was withon this escape mission because none of them were in sight, | noticed

it and against what my body wanted, I ran into the bush. | would not risk taking a clear path, | just had to be

careful of wild animals and dangerous plants.

| continued that path, there was no house nor car in sight, but |

continued still. Judging by the

brightness of the sun, it was latenet

afternoon and would soon be dark, | should be hby then or had gotten close to.

| brought out the phone, it had no passcode thankfully. | opened it and dialed Erika's number, | had her number

offhand, it did not ring, that was when I noticed there was o network here. | put the phone back in my pocket,

and kept walking.

| did not know how long | walked for but by the t| brought the phone out to call again, the sun had gone

hand it was late in the evening and soon to be dark.

That was when | noticed the guy's location was turned on, muttering profanities under my breath, | turned it off. |

could not risk being found again. | dialed Erika's number again, it rang.

Relief filledwhen she picked. "Hello, Erika."

She was quiet, she did not say anything.

"Hello, Erika.” | repeated. Why was she not saying anything? Or was she not hearing me? But | could hear her

breathing, that meant she had heard my voice but was not saying anything.

Or was she still angry? But she should have heard from my voice my situation right now? I tried again. "Hello,

Eri..." | removed the call from my ear when | heard the beep that had signaled the end of the call.

Anger and hurt squeezed tight. She did not care, she had heard my voice and decided she was not going to help

me. Fine, let it be that way then.

| tried the second person's number | had offhand and prayed she pick, else, | would have to find my way home

myself which at this point, | could not tell was its location. I dialed Kat's number.

| was grateful when it rang but also tensive that she might not pick, she might also

be angry and do not want it talk to me. Was she not going to pick?

I was almost at the brink of frustration when | heard her voice. "Hello." It was low

and held nerves.

"Hello, Kat. It's Jace."

"It's Jace." | heard her say but | was not sure she was talking to me.

"Please givethe phone." Someone collected it from her. "Jace." It was shaky

and heavy with tears.

Erika, my sister. "Hello, Alpha."
