Chapter 865
Dailey and Christine's relationship was kept under wraps. It was no surprise that the employees at the
corporation were unaware.
Without offering a response, Dailey took the phone from the reception desk. Serena stood beside him, silent, but
their behavior was as good as a confirmation to onlookers. Someone even offered their congratulations.
Dailey paid no mind. He didn't head upstairs; instead, he turned and left the building. This time, he didn't even
ride with Serena. The scent in her car was overwhelming, making him feel dizzy.
Serena trailed him into a nearby café. He didn't go directly to Christine's place, but Serena knew it was just a
diversion. She wasn't worried, though. After all, the Clarkson family would never approve of him being with
Christine.
She figured she'd have stto enjoy his company.
"Mr. Clarkson, are you really not considering my proposal?" she asked.
"Honestly, you might not find anyone else as accommodating as | am.”

"Marryingwould also be a great way to protect her. Our combined strength would deter any enemies."
Dailey was nearly thirty, not a naive child. Who was she kidding, thinking she could win him over?
Dailey remained silent. After a moment, Serena pressed on.
"Did you know she left Vista Town?"
A flicker of something crossed Dailey's eyes, but he still didn't speak. Serena noticed this slight change and
smirked.
He was only pretending not to care.
"The Clarkson family knows where she is. She can't hide from them, and you won't be able to find her on your
own. But | can arrange a meeting between you two."
"I hope Mr. Clarkson will show ssincerity in return."
Dailey's expression was indifferent. "Sincerity? Marrying you?"
Serena coaxed, "Isn't a win-win situation desirable?"
"If you want to marry her in the future, we can divorce."
"Once you gain control of the Clarkson family, they won't be able to touch you."
"Linden doesn't just answer to Mr. Clarkson. Your family has that unwritten rule, right? The leader's orders must
be followed."
"You've done your homework," Dailey said, stirring his coffee. "Too bad, you can't fool me."
Serena's face changed. "What do you mean?"
"Exactly what it sounds like."
Dailey sipped his coffee.
"You think my proposal is just bait, and once we're married, I'll show my true colors?" Serena asked.
Dailey didn't respond, which was response enough.
Serena laughed, "They say the Clarkson family is all about cold logic, always putting the family and you, Dailey,
are the most

steps ahead. It seems the rumors are true."
"But you're overthinking it. | don't need to be with someone who doesn't love me. | have money, looks, power-
what don't | have?"
Dailey chuckled, though more in derision than amusement.
"Yes, Miss Sinclair, you are indeed captivating. Otherwise, why would so many men overseas willingly be led on,
thinking it's their fault when they're betrayed?"
Serena was taken aback by his laugh, momentarily hopeful that her ploy had worked and he was interested. But
it was mockery, not interest.
Serena had never been so blatantly mocked before.
"Dailey, think carefully. If you refuse me, no one else will be as reasonable. When the Clarkson family sees you're
not settling down, your precious Christine might be in danger."
"The Clarkson family knows exactly where she is."
"That's not your concern. Worry about yourself. If | find out you've harmed her, you'll learn what it means to
suffer the consequences of your actions." With those cold words, Dailey stormed out
