Chapter 167
Dexter turned his head with a disgruntled expression, ignoring Fiona. At least she had been there to keep things
from getting awkward; without her, he wasn't sure how things would have gone.
Other people's mothers-in-law were typically considered nuisances or troublemakers, but Angela's had turned
into an asset.
"Mom, | must thank you this time, too. | toast to you." This time, Angela stood up steadily and respectfully raised
a glass to Fiona.
The atmosphere between the three of them was strange, yet oddly harmonious.
On the way back, Angela slept on Fiona's shoulder the entire ride, her phone ringing constantly.
Fiona grew a bit irritated and opened Angela's bag to check her phone. To her surprise, it was a voice message
from Trevor.
"When did she start talking to Trevor?" Fiona's voice turned cold.
"Delete it," Dexter glanced at her through the rearview mirror, his gaze sharp.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtFiona raised an eyebrow, quickly deleting the message. But soon, Trevor sent another message.
"Angela, why delete me? | did help you out, after all."
Fiona just blocked him.
For several days, Angela felt like she was walking on cloud nine. The feeling was truly indescribable.
Even her perception of Dexter seemed less unpleasant.
The two of them would occasionally sit down and share a meal, but only when Fiona was present.
However, her situation at Graham Group had subtly shifted.
At first, Bill had been unusually warm toward her, and even if someone had wanted to make a move, they
refrained due to their relationship.
But in the past few days, Bill seemed to have forgotten about her. He no longer sought her out, no longer sent
word, and there was no sign of the care he'd shown toward her and Clara.
Angela didn't mind; she kept doing what she had to do, slowly pushing the project forward with Clara.
She planned to suggest they return early to Callum, as she had just taken over the company, and he was likely
furious with her. If he started overthinking and decided to do something rash in the middle of the night, it could
create serious trouble.
One day, Zack cto find her. They had lunch together in Graham Group's staff canteen.
"You seem in a really good mood. The two old folks at home, on the other hand, have been arguing a lot lately.
Don't tellthere's no connection between these two odd ences," Zack said, staring
straight at Angela with a hint of grievance in his eyes.
Angela calmly sipped her soup and replied nonchalantly, "You've been quite obedient lately. You haven't been
gambling, and you're not hanging out with those bad friends. | find it strange, too."
Zack's face fell, and he shot her an annoyed glance. "How do you knowso well? But | recently heard a rumor.
Have you heard about it?" Zack leaned in closer to Angela and lowered his voice.
"I heard our dad has a mistress outside. Damn, | was shocked. How can he be so shameless? Isn't one woman
enough for him?"
Angela furrowed her brows. "What are you talking about?"
"You're shocked too, huh?" Zack was pissed. "Although my mom was a mistress, she... Forget it. Since she's my
mom, | have no comments. But who the heck is that woman? Why would she be a homewrecker..."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Where did you hear it from?" Angele asked with a frown.
She said this while taking out her phone to check. Luckily, the rumor hadn't made
its way online yet.
"I heard it from a friend. He just
askedabout it, and when | cin today, noticed a lot of employees here givingstrange looks. Off]
course, it could also be because they know about my past behavior and want to seemake a fool of myself."
