Chapter 469 Brad always thought of Nadine as someone with a mild temperament. She was soft in every way, from her body to her personality. Plus, she was easily swayed.
Even when she was upset, he never had to work too hard to make things right again. All he had to do was speak to her softly, and she'd smile once more.
He always thought that Nadine was a woman without a temper-until the moment she handed him the signed divorce papers. The resolve in her gaze and the suppressed emotion behind it made him take a hard look at the woman who had silently stood by him for over six years.

He had never seen Nadine so distraught. Tears streamed down her face like a broken dam, as though she had lost something she held dear.
He was a man of few words, ill-equipped to offer solace. Yet, he racked his brain to cup with a joke to make Nadine smile. Unfortunately, he was so used to being serious and wasn't good at expressing himself, so his mind went blank and he couldn't cup with anything remotely funny.
He held her slender shoulders, his fingers tracing comforting patterns on her back. His lips were pressed together as words failed him.
For the first tever, Brad, who had always thrived in the cutthroat world of business, found himself tongue- tied. He hated that he couldn't find the words to comfort her.
Yet, he couldn't help but wonder-what on earth had reduced Nadine to such a tearful state? "Nadine, you're not the type to cry over nothing. What happened? Con, tellwhat's wrong-I could use a good laugh." Initially, he thought he would be happy to see her cry. After all, she had done so many things to upset him lately, and he had been looking for a way to get back at her.
However, when he actually saw her in tears, he didn't feel happy at all. Instead, he found himself worrying about her, even wanting to comfort her. ItConfused him. Wasn't he supposed to revel in her misery? Yet, for sreason, he couldn't bring himself to do just that.
Nadine never imagined she'd run into Brad when she was at her most vulnerable. When she saw him walk through the emergency exit, she felt a sense of dread wash over her. She knew he was going to laugh at her, taking pleasure in her sorrow.

In truth, she wasn't seeking solace or pity. All she wanted was to cry and express her longing for Jack. Brad's shoulders were broad and warm and he made her feel safe. As soon as she leaned on his shoulder, it felt as though the storm had passed and the skies haecleared.
Nadine felt a lot better because she had someone to lean on. However, after hearing the nonsense coming out of his mouth, she muttered, "Nothing good ever comes out of that filthy mouth of yours, Brad!"
As soon as she stopped crying, he pushed her head off his off his shoulder, his face twisted in disgust. "Don't act like I didn't just do you a favor, Nadine I lent you my shoulderel.net?
you've gone and soiled my clothes. I haven't even asked you to make up for it, and you're already insulting me? If I'd known you were this ungrateful, I wouldn't have bothered!" He then pointed to the snot and tear stains on his coat, demanding, "Tell me, how do you plan to compensatefor ruining my clothes?"
