Chapter 265
Yolanda raised her voice and asked, "Is your boss here?"
"Who are you?" The bartender behind the counter stared at Yolanda warily.
"Hey, isn't this Ms. Henderson?" A blond thug emerged from the break room at the back of the bar. He was Fred
Kaplan, one of Blake's men. So, he recognized Yolanda.
"Where's your boss?" Yolanda asked again.
"It's strange. Half an hour ago, | was on the phone with him when the signal suddenly cut off. I've tried calling
him again, but he's not picking up. | was just about to head to his apartment to check."
"We'll go with you." Yolanda exchanged a look with Gavin. Both of them felt a sense of unease.

Although Blake had been involved in sshady dealings in his early years and wasn't someone who would
easily get into trouble, being unreachable for so long was indeed a little worrying.
"Alright, let's take the back exit." The blonde-haired guy informed the bartender and led Yolanda and Gavin out
through the bar's back alley.
Two streets away was a row of high-end apartments. Blake's apartment was located on the top floor of the last
building.
Fred, clearly familiar with the layout, led Yolanda and Gavin into the elevator of the final building. Along the way,
they kept calling Blake every few minutes, but there was still no response.
When the elevator reached the top floor, the voice-activated lights turned on.
As soon as Gavin stepped out of the elevator, he suddenly blocked their path. "Something's wrong."
The entire corridor was deathly silent, but Gavin and Yolanda's sharp senses picked up on the abnormality.
"What's going on?" Fred tried to keep moving forward, sensing nothing amiss.
"There's a murderous intent in the air." Yolanda knew explaining would be pointless, so she added, "Go
downstairs right now and gather as many of your men as you can. Have them wait downstairs, but don't alert
the authorities."
"What exactly is happening?" Fred was utterly confused.
"Your boss is probably in trouble."
"What? Ms. Henderson, you must be joking, right?" Fred's eyes widened in shock.
"Can't you smell the blood in the air? That's his apartment, isn't it?" Gavin asked, pointing toward the last room
in the hallway.
Fred nodded stiffly. "Yes, that's his place! I'll go get help right away!"

"Don't act rashly. Wait for my signal!" Yolanda instructed. She took his phone, dialed her number, and handed it
back to him.
She then moved silently with Gavin toward Blake's apartment.
Fred knew things were serious and didn't dally. He didn't even wait for the elevator and dashed down the
emergency stairs.
The closer Yolanda and Gavin got to Blake's apartment, the stronger the scent of blood became. However, they
sensed that Blake was still alive because there were other people inside and there were more than one.
If their sole purpose were to kill him, they wouldn't have lingered there for so long.
Within a few seconds, Gavin reached the door of the apartment. He took a small key out of his pocket and
carefully inserted it into the lock.
There was a faint click as the mechanism turned. Even in the quiet darkness, the sound was barely noticeable.
After unlocking the door, Gavin waited for a moment. When there was no response from inside, he slowly pushed
the security door open by roughly half an inch.
