Chapter 898:
Hadley blinked, surprised by his persistence, then sighed softly. “Denver, there are so many good women out
there. Don't fixate on me. Look around.”
He let out a low, bitter laugh. “But there’s only one you.”
The weight of that sorrow crushed the air between them.
Hadley looked at him, unable to find any words that wouldn't hurt. They fell into silence until the waiter arrived
with their meal. Neither spoke as they ate.
When they stepped outside, snow had started to fall, dusting the sidewalk in white.
Denver went to get the car while Hadley scanned the street. No sign of Eric's vehicle.
She let out a soft breath. That was for the best.
Denver drove her back to Millland Road. As the car rolled to a stop outside her building, Hadley turned to him.
“This is goodbye,” she said firmly. “Don’t clooking foragain. | won't see you anymore.”

“Please, Denver. Take care of yourself. Don't let this ruin you... or I'll never forgive myself.”
She blamed herself—for letting him get close, for briefly entertaining the idea of letting him in.
Their relationship ended too soon, and he was still stuck in the past...
“Hadley.”
As she stepped out of the car, Denver called after her, his eyes filled with desperation, as if trying to burn the
moment into memory.
“Ill respect your decision. | won't bother you again...” he murmured.

Hadley felt a flicker of surprise ripple through her. Had Denver really made peace with the situation so quickly?
His abrupt shift in demeanor left her slightly bewildered, though it mirrored the resolution she'd long desired.
“Okay then,” Hadley murmured, a gentle smile tugging at her lips.
“Look after yourself. I'm heading out now.”
“Sto you...” Denver replied with a subtle nod, stepping out of the vehicle and circling around to open her
door.
Their gazes locked for a moment, and a quiet, warm smile passed between them. Hadley gave a small wave.
“I'm going in. It’s snowing out here—be careful on the roads.”
“I'll manage,” Denver assured her. “Go on inside. I'll stick around until | see you're safe indoors.”
“Okay,” she agreed, turning to leave.
As she walked away, Denver's smile
